I think this what many are speculating about. I guess, this will break many stereotypes and open up the force in a better manner.

Anyway, congrats ... ...

big congrats, got to speak to him as a recruit in BMTC when he was still LTC, the man struck me as patient, knowledgeable, yet wanting to learn more so that he could genuinely offer help...

once again, big congrats!

same here...

have the opportunity to be under his command during my term in tekong and have the opportunity to listen in to his sessions during my introductionary week there.

very knowledgeable and open to new ideas for interaction and motivation among superiors and peers. he even spoke of his early career and advices us on how to command effectively.

Always knew he would eventually take up the rank and his pedigree and potential ensures this.

As an NSF back in the early 90s, i was attached to a few controllers as a signaller during one Mouse Deer. BG Ishak was one of them. A three-bar officer then, his infectious cheerfulness and enthusiasm made him stood out among his peers there. Hope our army receives more of leaders like him

his command ability is of course undisputed, but what's struck me has also been COL Ishak's patient and fatherly nature, which makes one feel valued as a soldier and human being despite being much lower down the pecking order. he well deserves the rank and the responsibility it brings!

it's also a triumph of meritocracy over a lingering hangup in our system that should have long been done away with.

He took over one of the introductory sessions during my BMT in Tekong because the CO wasn't around that day. It was the most interesting and engaging one I've had in my time there. I've never seen him command, but he certainly has a good leader's charisma.
